How much do you charge for travel?
We’re based in the beautiful Waitakere, Auckland
Within Auckland – included
Out of Auckland – 50c per km

How long should I plan for a shoot?
For weddings, we recommend allowing at least 90min for the Bridal party shoot.
For other family and portrait shoots, our minimum time is 60min

When is the best time for taking photos?
The golden hour – the final hour before sunset is usually the best. It’s still warm, the colours are amazing, and we can create some fun effects. But alas, not every ceremony can take place late in the afternoon, so we’ll do the best we can with any given circumstances.

Do you use digital or film cameras?
We have had great experience in both digital and film, however we now shoot exclusively with digital. We have a selection of the latest digital SLR’s, including both Canon and Nikon.

Do you have insurance?
Absolutely! We’d be crazy not to. We’re fully covered commercially for all of our gear in the South Pacific automatically, and also have $2million liability cover.

Do you shoot Raw or Jpg?
Some tech savvy people have asked us whether we shoot in Raw or Jpg format. We are committed to delivering the absolute best results we can, so will always shoot in Raw. The file is unprocessed within the camera, which is larger and retains further information than an image recorded as a Jpg within the camera. We will then import the photos into Adobe Photoshop, and tweak each image individually to get the best clarity, sharpness and a few creative effects. The only drawbacks of shooting Raw – our single Raw files are 10-20Mb in size.

How long do you take to process the images after the wedding?
For your peace of mind, we import, save, and backup the photos on the night of your wedding. Following this we will then be working hard on them over the next couple of weeks. Once we’ve completed the processing, we will upload some web size images to our ordering/viewing system for your close friends and family to view on:

Do you keep the originals?
Williams Photography will always keep the original ownership/copyright of the photos, but we’re more than happy to share copies. For your security, we also have these backed up regularly in case you happen to lose your copy.

Do you mind if guests take photos?
During the ceremony and reception, we don’t mind at all, providing they give us the room needed to capture those awesome photos. Whilst on the exciting bridal shoot, we kindly ask that it’s only the bridal party, so you all remain relaxed and comfortable.

Will you visit the venue beforehand?
If the venue is local, we’re happy to come along to the venue for your consultation and look at some creative ideas we may be able to use. We may have already been to the venue previously, and know the vendors.

How far in advance should we book?
We find the ideal time to be around 9-18 months in advance. Please don’t hesitate to contact us at the last minute if you’ve only just heard about us, or your other photographer has fallen through. We may be able to assist you, or recommend some other amazing photographers in our community.

How do we secure your services?
