Queenstown Photography Tours & Workshops

queenstown photography tours-007

We offer Queenstown photography tours & workshops. We’re currently rebuilding our “NZ Photography Tours” page (www.photographytours.co.nz) – so in the meantime, here’s some basic info on what we offer. Typically my tours are run over the best light of the day – early AM for sunrise and morning light, or mid/late afternoon and into sunset. If it’s near a new moon, it’s a great time to shoot astrophotography – so I can also run night tours to some great spots where our Milky Way is incredibly clear.

1 on 1 Queenstown Photography Tour/Workshop- explore the beautiful areas of Queenstown, with trip options including Skippers Canyon, Glenorchy & Arrowtown. I’ll share my knowledge of photography and explain how I would shoot a particular scene.

4 hours – $400

8 hours – $600

Group Queenstown Photography Tours – visiting some beautiful local sights in the Queenstown area, with up to 3 other people.

4 hours – $220 per person

About:

I’ve been an avid photographer since 1996, and shooting some commercial images for various magazines in the early/mid 2000’s, including Performance Car Magazine, aviation calendars and books. Since 2005, I’ve also been shooting weddings, mixing my love for the outdoors and vast landscapes with bride & grooms. I’ve picked up a few awards along the way, including 15 NZIPP Iris Awards, and won Gold at the Kodak Gold Awards 2011-2014.

When I’m not shooting heli-weddings above Queenstown, I’m exploring New Zealand’s rich landscape and seeking those early morning sunrises.

Compliance:

My tours are run in compliance with the strict New Zealand Transport Agency laws – with a current Passenger Services Licence, P Endorsement and Level 2 First Aid Course. I’m also a volunteer fireman for my local Kingston station. My tours are currently run in my certified 2013 Subaru Outback.

Gear:

In reality, gear isn’t too important, some of my favourite photos have been taken with my cellphone 😉 – But ultimately, having an SLR or modern mirrorless camera will give you the best results. I currently shoot with Canon 5D mk III’s and some various wide angle and prime lens. I also love to use Lee filters to get that perfect shot in camera. I typically bring my camera gear out with me to demonstrate, and also loan a camera/lens if needed.
