During April and May, we spent several nights in Lake Tekapo. Our April trip was a little soggy, including Veena & Timo’s wedding – which didn’t result in many landscape photos. Lake Tekapo is renowned for it’s incredibly dark skies, perfect for night photography. The iconic Church of the Good Shepherd always provides a great foreground interest.
These Milky Way photos were captured after our flight from Auckland to Queenstown in early May was cancelled, and we had to book a flight to Christchurch, and take the six hour drive overnight, before a wedding expo the next morning! It’s probably the only time we will ever say we were super happy to have our flight cancelled, and arrive in Queenstown 15 hours later than planned…
