Lisa and James had us come up to Auckland as their wedding photographers and we had the absolute best time. They chose the south Auckland wedding venue, Abbeville Estate, to celebrate with plenty of friends and family. Abbeville Estate is so gorgeous for weddings with a sweet Chapel, beautiful historic homestead, an American-style barn and gorgeous gardens. Lisa and James chose to hold their wedding ceremony in the Chapel and after a rollercoaster of emotions from the bridal party cracking up to everyone in the Chapel balling their eyes out, thanks to Laura Giddey.
After lots of hugs, kisses and champers, we had some family photos under the incredible tree next to the homestead. For the wedding party portraits, we decided to change scenery a little and headed over to the barn, where the newly-weds could hang out with their siblings and best friends while we captured a whole bunch of gorgeous and some more candid photos. Before long it was time to fill everyone’s bellies so we ducked in to capture the reception details, with sweet flowers and decor organised by Lisa and James’ wedding planner and our studio manager, Steph from Holly & Co..
There were so many good speeches from family and friends, and not to mention the MC Digby donned an epic star-studded suit for his important role! As the sun was setting, we saw the fields get hit with golden light so snuck out for some photos in the nearby paddock. Even in her stunning wedding dress, Lisa didn’t give it a second thought as she jumped over the fence before James had a chance to give her a helping hand. (Lisa is a farmer by trade and was Northern Young Farmer of the Year this year. You might have also seen her on Country Calendar!)
After a yummy chocolate cake, complete with personalised sheep cake toppers, we headed over to the barn for Lisa and James’ First Dance and rocking party afterwards.
