As 2015 was coming to a close, my last Queenstown shoot was a ripper.
Irene & Christian were travelling around New Zealand from Malaysia and chose Queenstown to capture their pre-wedding photos. Everything came together so amazingly, starting with a few photos at the crack of dawn on the waterfront before capturing a 7am flight up Cecil Peak with the knowledgeable Paul Mitchell of Heli Tours flying his trusty Squirrel.
Just as we were jumping in the chopper, Christian told me he hadn’t actually proposed to Irene yet and he was going to do it up the mountain. What happened next was incredible. As they made their way to the gorgeous view over Wakatipu, the sun was erupting through the clouds above the Remarkables. He dropped onto one knee, whilst the sun glistened on the ring. I moved around to capture the emotions, before being absolutely blown away by the light on the water…
